Do You Have the Right Bathroom Towels?

Bathroom towels are perhaps one of the most used fabrics that go through a lot in your home your home. They are used for keeping us dry and clean, they are used in the kitchen, they are used to dry the dog, they are even used when we go to the gym. Because we use them daily, we don’t really give a second thought in choosing the next set of towels, but it really isn’t as straightforward as we might think.

There are many of factors that you have to consider when selecting towel. The factor most taken into account is the feel of the towel, but it shouldn’t be limited to that. It’s also important to include the size, the color, and other more technical stats that come into play to ensure you get the most out of your towels.  After all, there is nothing worse than the feeling of wiping yourself off with a cheap, uncomfortable towel.

Choosing the Best Size

Think about where you’ll be using your towel. Will it be used by your kids? Will it be used for a guest bathroom? Will it be used for the gym? Taking this into account will help you decide on the size. There are many possible choices in terms of size. Hand towels, face towels, bath towels, the choice is yours. If you want, you can also go all out and consider getting a bath sheet, which is a larger-sized towel.

Choosing the Right Material

The feel of the towel will depend on the material. For a cozier, luxurious feel, consider getting 100% cotton bathroom towels. Cotton fibers can hold up to 25 times its weight in liquid, making it incredibly effectively for use in a towel and incredibly absorbent. Each fiber naturally attracts water. Bamboo towels are also another good choice as they are soft, supple, and extremely absorbent.

GSM

GSM stands for grams per square meter. It is another important factor in bathroom towel selection since the more GSM a towel has, the greater its weight and absorbency. This is quite similar to thread count in beddings, as the lower the GSM for bathroom towels, the lower its weight and ability to absorb. High GSM towels are heavier and very absorbent. GSM values of 350-400 are light while high GSM can mean anything from 450-600 and upwards.

Color and Style

Depending on the location of where you want to display your towels, you will most likely take the color and style into account. This is a matter of preference, of course, as there is no standard color or size for each room. But if you have already decorated each space in your home, why not get colors that match? It can definitely spruce up your kitchen, your bathroom, maybe even your bedroom, especially if you have a towel rail to store them on. If you’re not into that kind of look, maybe get a contrasting color.
